All structures in contacts with the earth require foundations to adequately transfer the loads. EDG provides foundation design services for all manner of structures including buildings, bridges, signs and temporary structures. We are specialists in driven and bored pile foundations, shallow footings on soil and rock, and piled rafts. Our foundation design work begins with the acquisition and synthesis of geotechnical data and the development of an Engineering Geological Model. We work hand in hand with structural engineers to understand the loading conditions and our clients for preferred foundation options. We use many analytical software packages to support our design work, including soil-structure interaction modelling with Plaxis 2D and 3D, RS2 and Group, plus in-house tools developed from a “first principles” understanding of foundation design theory. We design foundations for both permanent and temporary applications.
Our experience in foundation design and analysis includes projects for Queensland Rail and Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, Sunshine Coast Airport Upgrade Project, Wynnum Road Upgrade, West Gate Tunnel, Kingsford Smith Drive and several Level Crossing Removal projects in Melbourne.
Our foundation design capability is led by Adam Lander, Steven Perrett, David Cunliffe and Glenn Daniel who have many years of experience in characterising ground conditions and foundation design.
