Queensland Parks and Wildlife engaged EDG to carry out risk management activities for two locations within Kondalilla National Park where four large and several other smaller, somewhat precariously positioned rocks posed an intolerable risk to park users.
QPWS required a single entity be engaged to effectively remove the rocks by scaling to manage the risk, and carry out post scaling rectification and risk assessment activities.
EDG engaged Geovert, a company specialising in construction and engineering for difficult access sites, as a subcontractor to undertake the scaling activities.
EDG Principal, Ian Shipway provided on site direction for the scaling activities throughout the works, using his rope access capabilities to access the rock faces for evaluation and the risk assessment activities.
The work was completed in a very short timeframe, with both EDG and Geovert being able to mobilise quickly to meet the client’s requirements.
