Queensland Rail commissioned Geovert Ground Engineering to deliver the design and construction of slope stabilisation works for selected sites on the Kuranda Scenic Rail line, near Cairns. A number of sites along the Kuranda Range had been identified for remedial works following a risk assessment study undertaken previously.
EDG Consulting was been engaged by Geovert to provide a range of design services for the required risk mitigation works:
- Rock fall barriers
- Rock dowels
- Soil nails
- Rockfall mesh
- Construction verification
- Construction advice
- Anchor/nail pullout and acceptance test interpretation.
We provided design reports for multiple review stages by Geovert and QR and IFC drawings. EDG was on site throughout the construction phase, working with the Geovert team, to advise on construction issues, carry out design modifications to account for actual site conditions and over see the works to allow assessment of the as built conditions.
