Lendlease Engineering is delivering Brisbane City Council’s Kingsford Smith Drive Upgrade project in Brisbane.
The project is to be delivered adjacent to live traffic on the major arterial road and along the northern bank of the Brisbane River.
EDG Consulting is assisting Lendlease in the temporary works field.
We have delivered over 45 temporary works packages for the project, including:
- Design and construction assessment for access ramps
- Working platforms for cranes and piling rigs
- Excavation support
- Slope stability assessments
- Coffer dams
- Structural beams for services support
- Construction advice
In particular, the need to install services across the road corridor has driven the need for efficient excavation support systems. We have assessed earth pressures for the selection of trench boxes, designed soil anchored excavation support with and without shotcrete facings and sheet pile coffer dams.
We have supported the construction team in the assessment of working platforms in complex circumstances where very soft clays on the riverbank has required the use of 2D and 3D limit equilibrium and finite element analyses to achieve the required temporary stability outcomes.
