Coomera Connector

Coomera Connector

EDG was part of the CPB Contractors/See Civil bid for the Coomera Connector Central project between Coomera and Nerang, which is a 9km long portion of the overall 45km long Coomera Connector project linking the Logan Motorway and Pacific Motorway interchange at Loganholme and Nerang-Broadbeach Road at Nerang.

The project route covered challenging topographical and geological terrains with conditions varying from soft soils to strong rock, combined with the presence of adjacent exiting light and heavy rail assets and existing roads. EDG’s role included the development of the Engineering Geological Model (including 3D models for some critical sections), cut slope and embankment design, retaining wall geotechnical design, ground improvements over soft soils including assessing of impacts on external assets, bridge and structure foundation analysis, excavatability assessment and geo-material re-use assessment for mass haul inputs.

We developed and maintained registers of risks and opportunities for the project and led interactions to present and discuss these with the client’s geotechnical experts during the ECI tender process. We defined requirements for additional investigations and testing to refine the design and reduce risks, together with construction phase services tasks and instrumentation and monitoring requirements.
