Auckland Hill is a council reserve located on the south-east entrance to Gladstone Harbour. The slopes of Auckland Hill, which have a history of instability, fall to parklands and public space below. EDG undertook a slope stability risk assessment of this area. Following on site hazard identification and characterisation, the calculation of risk requires an understanding of the probability of instability, the likelihood of the hazard affecting people, and their vulnerability. This provides the council with risk to life figures that can be used to determine the scale of further works, if required, to reduce the risk to tolerable levels.
