Steve Perrett
Senior Principal
Steve is a Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer with 25 years’ experience in the field of geotechnical engineering design, analysis and construction for hydroelectric, marine and civil infrastructure projects. Steve graduated from QUT in 1998 and has worked with a range of geotechnical consultants in Australia and overseas. Steve spent 12 years working in Canada, United States of America and South America before returning to Australia in 2018.
Steve is a Chartered Professional Engineer and RPEQ whose technical strengths include:
- Pile foundations.
- Soft Ground engineering.
- Dams and water conveyance structures.
- Soil and rock slope stability and stabilisation.
- Retaining wall design.
- Innovative solutions.
- Assessment of geotechnical properties of soils and rock for site characterisation.
Steve has co-authored 2 technical papers on rippability of rock and risk assessment.
Notable projects that Steve has been involved in include:
- Rockhampton Ring Road – IFC bridge design for connector road.
- Cross River Rail – where Steve provides technical oversight for a broad range of temporary works designs and construction phase services.
- Narrabri to North Star - Inland Rail where he is the design manager for temporary works.
- Allison Project - coal terminal upgrade in Vancouver, Canada.
- LNG Canada Kitimat where he was technical Lead for a $15M ground improvement field trial for an LNG processing and associated wharfs / ship-loading facilities in Canada.
- Port of Brisbane Motorway Alliance, Brisbane where he was involved in the tender and detailed designs for the AU$196M project.
- Edmonton to Gordonvale where he was the geotechnical lead during tender for the successful design and construct tenderer.
- Design and resident engineer for the Wivenhoe Dam Spillway Augmentation Project.
- Lead Geotechnical design engineer for iron ore ship loader and dock on Baffin Island in the Artic Circle.
- Investors engineer for due diligence review of numerous hydroelectric projects.
- Geotechnical Engineer for the Culliton Creek Hydroelectric Project powerhouse and intake design.
- Acting Dam safety engineer for a failed 10m high ash lagoon during emergency works for operation and rehabilitation.
