The Department of Transport and Mains Roads (TMR) recently engaged EDG Consulting to provide remedial designs for two separate road embankments within the wide Bay/Burnette region, which were damaged during intense and prolonged rainfall events. This included assessment of the damaged sections of embankment and development of remedial designs including:

• Site investigations.
• Development of ground models for the sites.
• Slope stability assessments.
• Preparation of three separate concept remedial designs for each site, for TMR review.
• Production of detailed design reports for each site included design drawings, technical specifications, and construction quantity estimates for tender.

EDG was onsite during the construction phase of the works to assist with quality control and engineering oversight. We also assessed the final landform using three-dimensional modelling software to confirm consistency with the facilities design storage requirements.
